RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults.
It is the process of becoming a member of the Catholic Church as an adult. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops describes it as a process in which participants study the Gospel of Jesus Christ, learn about the Triune God and the Catholic Church. Through this period of learning, if the participant professes faith they will continue onto the sacraments to be fully brought into the Catholic Church.
